ABOUT FIONA
Hi, I’m Fiona.
I’m so glad you’re here!
I became a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner after watching food and lifestyle changes transform my mom's health in ways her doctors said weren't possible. I wanted to find out what "healthy" really was - to understand how to support my body, prevent and navigate illness, and help others do the same.
Fighting Cancer
When I was in seventh grade, my dad was diagnosed with multiple myeloma: a cancer of the bone marrow. The doctors gave him five years.
He went through chemo. He fought hard. New treatments came through, and he went into remission. We got more time than anyone expected. Then, shortly after I moved across the country for college, my dad passed away suddenly. Not from the cancer he had spent years fighting, but from a heart attack. The time we thought we’d been given back was gone. It was the hardest year of my life.
Autoimmunity
Around the same time, my mom was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, a serious autoimmune disorder. Several doctors told her she would need synthetic thyroid hormone for the rest of her life. She wasn’t ready to accept that as the only answer, and she went looking for another way.
Food as Medicine
Most of us have heard the idea of food as medicine, but it often isn’t held in the same regard as modern Western medicine. That changed for me when I witnessed the incredible healing power of nutrition and lifestyle changes in my mom’s journey.
With targeted diet and lifestyle changes (no prescriptions, no medication), my mom brought her thyroid function and bloodwork back into normal range. If I hadn’t seen it happen with my own eyes, I’m not sure I would have believed it. From that point on, I was a believer in what food and lifestyle can do to support the body’s ability to heal.
Why nutritional therapy
Amazed by her results, I wanted to understand exactly how food and lifestyle contribute to either disease or health. But everywhere I looked, the advice contradicted itself.
I couldn’t figure out what to believe. So I enrolled in the Nutritional Therapy Association, and I finally got my answers.
What I learned is that every body is different. The same advice that works beautifully for one person can make another feel worse. The contradictions weren’t wrong, they were just missing context. I learned how the body works to maintain and restore health, and why two people with the same symptoms can need completely different approaches.
While health can still feel like a puzzle, I now understand how the pieces fit together. I understand the bodily mechanisms that are, or aren't, being supported by the choices we make every day.
“Everyone should be fasting” - “fasting is bad for women's hormone health”
“You need to cut out all sugars” - “fruit is one of the healthiest things you can eat”
“Eggs have too much cholesterol” - “Eggs contain all the nutrients your body needs”
The big takeaway
What I learned from my education, and from watching my own family, is that neither modern medicine nor holistic health has all the answers alone. Modern medicine is extraordinary at treating disease. But the food, the stress, the sleep, the daily habits; those are what determine whether disease gets a foothold in the first place.
Your body sends signals long before things get serious. Persistent bloating. Constant exhaustion. Skin that keeps breaking out. Cycles that are all over the place. Those aren’t just inconveniences. They’re invitations to pay attention.
How I can help you
While Nutritional Therapy Practitioners don’t diagnose or treat medical conditions, we help people tap into the body’s natural ability to heal through food and lifestyle: two of the most powerful and most overlooked levers of change. We’ll look at your symptoms and habits together to uncover where your body needs more support, and I’ll build you specific protocols to get there - explaining the why at every step, so you understand your own body long after our work together ends.
I became a nutritionist because I wanted to take my health into my own hands, and help others do the same. I truly believe health is the most important thing in life. I’m here to help you protect your health - before you ever have to fight for it.
